Samosa Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup ghee (clarified butter) or oil

1/2 teaspoon salt

3 large potatoes, boiled, peeled, and mashed

1 cup peas (fresh or frozen)

1 tablespoon oil

1 teaspoon cumin seeds

1 large onion, finely chopped

1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste

1 to 2 green chilies, finely chopped (adjust to taste)

1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

1 teaspoon ground coriander

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon garam masala

Salt to taste

Fresh coriander leaves, chopped

Oil for deep frying


Instructions:

For the Dough:

In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and ghee (or oil).

Gradually add water and knead to form a firm and smooth dough.

Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.


For the Filling:

Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, and let them splutter.

Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.

Stir in ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, sauté for a minute.

Add turmeric powder, ground coriander, ground cumin, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.

Add boiled and mashed potatoes along with peas. Cook for 3-5 minutes.

Stir in fresh coriander leaves, and the filling is ready. Allow it to cool.


Assembling and Frying:

Divide the dough into small equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.

Roll out each ball into a thin oval or round shape.

Cut the rolled dough in half to make two semi-circles.

Form a cone shape with each semi-circle, sealing the edges with water.

Fill the cone with the prepared potato-pea filling.

Seal the open edge to form a triangular or pyramid shape.

Heat oil in a pan for deep frying.

Fry the samosas until they turn golden brown and crispy.

Remove and place them on paper towels to absorb excess oil.

Serve your homemade samosas with mint chutney or tamarind sauce. Enjoy these delicious snacks!
